Aston Villa's stadium expansion has entered a significant new phase of construction. Aerial footage filmed last week shows extensive work at Villa Park, with the rear of the existing North Stand substantially stripped back.
Piling operations are continuing across the site and concrete foundations are being laid. Structural preparations are also underway, with the design incorporating gaps for airflow and pitch maintenance. The project includes 500 square metres of new facilities, featuring first-team changing, medical and physiotherapy rooms. A generator room has been relocated as part of the ongoing work around the stand.
The redevelopment is scheduled to reopen next season, with completion targeted ahead of the 2027/28 campaign. The expansion will increase Villa Park's capacity beyond 50,000 from its current level of just over 37,000. The North Stand remains closed for the 2026/27 season, with contractor Kingscote leading the build. The project is now moving towards its next major phase.
This progress comes as the first team enjoys a positive run of form. Unai Emery's side sit 16th in the Premier League with four points from five games, but have won their last two matches, including a 3-2 victory at Tottenham. The club will hope the stadium development matches the upward trajectory on the pitch.
